About the Ford F-150 Lightning

It’s certainly no secret that the proven Ford F-150 has remained America’s best-selling pickup for more than four decades. Now for the first time in its storied history, the F-150 Lightning paves the way toward the all-electric future for this legendary truck. In keeping with the principles of Built Ford Tough™, the F-150 Lightning proves that going electric doesn’t mean making sacrifices on the work-ready capability and dependability that’s made it an icon. Drivers have their choice of either a standard or extended-range battery pack, capable of delivering up to an EPA-estimated 320 miles of range. Its high-strength steel frame along with a military-grade aluminum-alloy body and bed deliver a combination of strength and weight savings that help this zero-emission pickup get the job done. Inside the cabin, you’ll find a work-ready interior that’s packed with the latest technological innovations from Ford including SYNC® 4A and the Ford Co-Pilot360™ 2.0 suite of driver-assistive safety features. These exceptional connectivity features ensure that your Ford F-150 Lightning will keep evolving with you, over time.

What the Critics Say

“Riding on a new EV platform, with the latest electrical architecture and fourth-generation electronics, the F-150 Lightning becomes the smartest and most connected truck in Ford’s lineup, offering a new wealth of features and apps, along with a giant 15.5-inch touchscreen to access many of them.” — MotorTrend

“Showing off its raw grunt, my test driver took the Lightning up a 25% grade, which doesn’t sound that steep until you see it filling the windshield. With 3 tons in tow, the truck had no trouble tackling this rather daunting hill, easily putting it in the rearview mirror, all while emitting nothing more than a whirr.” — Roadshow by CNET

What’s New for 2023

Now in its second model year, the dynamic Ford F-150 Lightning returns with a handful of small adjustments for 2023. First, Pro Trailer Hitch Assist has been added to the optional Tow Technology Package. Other equipment changes include new LED strobe lights for fleet models and the removal of AM radio. In terms of exterior colors, last year’s Iced Blue Silver, Atlas Blue, and Smoked Quartz Metallic Tinted Clearcoat have been discontinued while Azure Gray Metallic and Avalanche make their debut this year. Finally, the Standard Range battery receives an additional 10 miles of range for 2023.

Ford F-150 Lightning Features

Ford F-150 Lightning Performance

Electrified Performance

Whether you use your truck for work or play, the Ford F-150 Lightning revolutionizes performance and capability. Far from a gimmick or display piece, the Lightning features an all-electric powertrain that’s been put through the same grueling durability tests as the rest of the F-150 lineup. Engineered with Built Ford Tough™ principles, drivers can choose between a Standard-Range Battery (425 HP / 775 LB-FT TQ) or an Extended-Range Battery (580 HP / 775 LB-FT TQ) paired with a standard four-wheel drive system. A 10,000-pound max towing capacity and 2,000-pound max payload capacity help demonstrate that going electric doesn’t mean making compromises on capability. This dual eMotor powertrain features selectable drive modes to personalize drive characteristics along with a 0 to 60 time of less than 4 seconds. Helping you work smarter, not harder – the Ford F-150 Lightning is also available with cutting-edge tech features including Pro Trailer Backup Assist, Smart Hitch, and onboard scales that help you calculate payload.
