About the Ford F-250 Super Duty
The Super Duty is probably the most appropriately-named vehicle in history. This truck is built to handle all of the very toughest jobs you can throw at it, towing truly awesome quantities, even to places where there aren’t roads. Nowhere does the phrase Built Ford Tough® apply more than to the Super Duty. The interior is made to keep you comfortable on long-haul drives, and it converts into a mobile office once you’ve reached the job site.
Newly redesigned for 2023, the Super Duty has a completely redesigned interior, a class-leading** towing capacity, and lots of amazing new tech. The standard engine is a 6.8-liter gasoline V8, and those who want more power can option up to the 7.3-liter V8, the largest and most powerful gasoline engine available in a heavy-duty pickup. Lastly, a 6.7-liter Power Stroke® V8 Turbo Diesel is available with an also-class-leading 1,200 lb-ft of torque. It’s no wonder that the Super Duty reigns supreme in the world of pickups.
What the Critics Say
“Depending on how it’s equipped, the Super Duty is capable of hauling up to 8,000 pounds of payload or towing up to 40,000 pounds worth of trailer. Supplementing these efforts are gobs of new tech that make driving and towing safer and more convenient, including a blind-spot-monitoring system for fifth-wheel and gooseneck trailering.” — Car & Driver
“TIt seems like only yesterday that 1000 lb-ft of torque was an achievement equal to the four-minute mile. Now here comes Ford with 1,200 lb-ft of twist. OMG!” — Autoweek
What’s New for 2023
The Super Duty got a total redesign for 2023, and this comes with a ton of new tech and lots more power. Rear-wheel drive is still standard, but four-wheel drive comes standard on more trims than before, and the cabin has been redesigned to be both more comfortable and more functional. Two of the three available engines, the 7.3-liter gasoline V8 and the 6.7-liter turbo diesel V8, carry over from the previous generation but have both received a bump in power. The base gasoline V8 has been replaced with a new 6.8-liter V8 that is based on the same architecture as the bigger 7.3-liter V8. It also comes with more power than the old 6.2-liter base engine.
Ford Super Duty Features
The Leader In Performance & Capability
You simply can’t beat the functionality of a Super Duty. Whether you’re highway cruising with a trailer, powering equipment at a job site, or going for some serious offroading, the Super Duty will handle it better than anything else on the market. Three different engines are offered, all of them V8s. You have a choice of the base 6.8-liter or the optional 7.3-liter gasoline engines, both of which produce tremendous amounts of power. In fact, the 7.3-liter engine is the most powerful gasoline engine available in a heavy-duty pickup. But those who need to tow a lot, and we do mean a LOT, can opt for the 6.7-liter Power Stroke® V8 Turbo Diesel, which makes 500 horsepower and 1,200 lb-ft of torque.
Whichever engine you choose, there is an available Live-Drive Power Takeoff (PTO) and Pro Power Onboard, a 2.0-kilowatt onboard electrical system. These bring incredible convenience to the job site, letting you power a huge variety of tools and equipment. The off-road-focused Tremor® Off-Road Package comes with a huge list of heavy-duty equipment, including unique wheels with 35-inch off-road tires and off-road suspension.
Functional Comfort
Since there are a lot of different uses for the kind of functionality offered by the Super Duty, versatility is key for the interior. The seats are large and comfortable, made to offer support during long highway towing trips, along with available heating and ventilation. Also available are Max Recline seats, which fold almost completely flat, for those days when you have to sleep in the truck. The center console quickly converts into a work surface, and available 5G-powered Wi-Fi makes it easy to provide internet for up to 10 devices.
The Super Duty comes with Ford’s latest SYNC® 4 infotainment system. Standard with this is an 8-inch touchscreen, or buyers can opt for the available 12-inch unit. Connected to this is a truly impressive stereo system, and Super Duty buyers who want even more have the option of a B&O® Sound System by Bang & Olufsen® with HD Radio™ (18 speakers including subwoofer).
Driver-Assisted Utility
The Super Duty is loaded with all of the excellent driver assistance features that you’ve come to expect from Ford, but with a ton of extras to make it the ultimate work truck. Since the Super Duty’s amazing towing capacity makes it a favorite for people with a lot to tow, there are a number of systems to help make towing easier. This includes several cameras, including a 360-degree trailer camera. It also includes a “tailgate down” backup camera, a first in the industry, since traditional tailgate cameras were unusable with the tailgate down. There are also in-bed scales to help you find the optimal balance for your cargo, not to mention help keep you from overloading. Adaptive cruise control with lane centering, a head-up display, and stop-and-go assist are also all available to help with those long trips.
Ford F-350 / F-450 Super Duty
While the F-250 Super Duty is extremely capable, for some jobs, it’s only the F-350 or F-450 Super Duty models that will suffice. You can get extra stability from available dual-wheel rear axles. This has the extra benefit of allowing you to order the Max Towing Package, which combined with a 5th wheel and the 6.7-liter Power Stroke® V8 Turbo Diesel lets you hit the Super Duty’s staggering max towing capacity of 40,000 pounds. Other trucks just can’t compete with that.
